Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She was raised within an ethnically diverse family. Her father Elroy Fernandez is from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Her brothers are younger and one older sister. Due to the war that raged in Sri Lanka that the family made the decision to relocate to Bahrain. She was given a scholarship to attend in the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia following the completion of her studies in Bahrain. As a lover of culture as well as languages, she joined Berlitz Language School where she learned Spanish and honed her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was crown in March 2006; she also participated in Miss Universe 2006 As a result of winning Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone was able to begin her work on television. She was the host of the program Lanka Business Report which focused on the business of Sri Lanka. Padukone is the child of of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore and was born in Copenhagen. When she was a teen, Padukone competed in a variety of national badminton tournaments. However, she resigned from her passion for the game when she decided to pursue a career as a professional model. Padukone is from Mangalore, and her mother language is Konkani. Padukone is a village in the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of global repute. Her mother is a travel agent.
